Important Tips

  • Don’t wash the vegetables after cutting and peeling, will wash out all the important vitamins.
  • To avoid the discoloration, need to soak aubergine and potatoes after cutting.
  • Do not throw vegetable boiled water, use it for making gravy or soup.
  • To avoid browning of apples after cutting, need to apply a lemon juice on the cut surface.
  • Remove the stalks of green chilies while storing them. This will stay fresh for a longer time.
  • To peel off almond skin need to soak almonds in hot water for 8 – 10 minutes.
  • Always use wooden chopping board for chopping vegetables and try to avoid fiber chopping boards. (fiber chopping boards are not good for health).
  • To keep fruits and vegetables fresh for longer time need to wrap them in newspaper before refrigerating.
  • To ripe a fruit faster wrap a fruit in newspaper and keep it in warn place for 2 – 3 Days.
  • Soak poppy seeds in hot water at least for 10 – 15 minutes before grinding.
  • For boiling milk always put little water before pouring milk to avoid the milk from sticking at the base.
  • Firstly make a slight slits on tomatoes and leave it in hot water after 5 minutes the skin will peel off very easily.  
  • Add 2 tsp of water or Milk to the egg to get fully and spongy omelet.
  • Use warm water to knead rice dough to get a soft rice roti.
  • Always use 1 tsp of sugar along with cardamom pods in Mortar and pestle to get a fine cardamom powder.
  • Always add 1 tsp of oil to cooking rice to get separate grains.
  • Add 1tsp of lemon juice to coking rice to get white and separate grains.
  • Use piece of kokum or aamchur powder while cooking ladyfinger.
  • To avoid sticking of dosa  add 2 tsp of oil and rub it with onion / fry onion slices on high flame till it get dark brown color and crispier, remove the fried onion from tawa now run oil with the help of onion and make a dosa. 
  • To retain a green color, add pinch of sugar in boiling / blanching vegetables. 
  • To remove the odd flavor of soya chunk add 2 tsp of vinegar to the boiling soya chunks and boil it for 8 – 10 minutes, then wash it with normal water.
  • While cleaning mutton/chicken always add 1 tsp of vinegar.  It will help you to clean it properly.
